Women in Fashion Law Dinner : Leading with Purpose

Celebrating this year’s International Women’s Month theme ‘Accelerate Action’, The Fashion Law Edit hosted their first Women in Fashion Law Dinner which brought together a distinguished gathering of professionals. The dinner was more than just a seated soirée — it was a celebration of ambitious and enterprising women across industries with a shared passion for fashion.

L-R: Saher Bhatti, Bunmi,Jenfa, Jatinder Kalsi and Charlotte Bendkowsi

Set in an elegant candlelit room, the evening began with welcome drinks and light networking, as guests connected over shared interest in fashion and their professional journeys. This was followed by a chef curated three-course dinner and the highlight of the evening - The Fire Side Chat. The discussion moderated by Bunmi Jefna, featured three inspirational speakers: Jatinder Kalsi, Corporate Counsel at Jimmy Choo; Saher Bhatti, Founder & CEO of Lawful London; and Charlotte Bendkowski, Founder of Femme Tech.

Jatinder spoke candidly about her early struggles in securing a traditional training contract and how, through that process, she discovered her passion for in-house legal work. She emphasised on how important finding one’s own path is than chasing the one everyone expects you to follow.

Saher shared her journey from solicitor to founder, born from a practical need — fashionable bags that suited the pace and professionalism of a lawyer’s lifestyle. She highlighted the importance of following your passion, while remaining grounded, to be bold, but be realistic about the path you choose.

Charlotte addressed the growing intersection between fashion and technology, highlighting the urgent need for inclusive and values-driven leadership in the tech space. She emphasised the need for women to lead in tech; and how diverse leadership is important in tech particularly within industries like fashion, where technology is rapidly reshaping consumer relationships and brand identities.

The speakers each brought a unique perspective grounded in both professional insight and lived experience- including the evolution of legal careers within luxury fashion, the transition from law to entrepreneurship, and the impact of artificial intelligence on branding and consumer engagement. Additionally, the speakers emphasised the value of confidence, instinct, and mentorship in shaping one’s career path. The evening concluded with continued conversation over dessert and drinks, attendees sharing experiences and creative ambition — a reflection of the strength and diversity within the fashion law community.
